A 19-year-old man was shot Sunday evening in east Bakersfield after arguing with the shooters about gang affiliation, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
The victim was walking near Oregon Street and McCrudy Drive when a white sedan drove up beside him. One of the passengers in the sedan fired two to three shots and drove away. One of the shots hit the man in the shoulder. He was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The shooters and the man had apparently argued earlier about their gang affiliations. Deputies circled the area but did not find the vehicle or suspects. The investigation is ongoing.
